February Nintendo Direct

Here is a short list of what I expected before I get into my thoughts: Megaman Battle Network news, new switch model and some sort of Fire Emblem or Breath of the Wild 2 information, (Mother 3 but let’s be real)

It as a lackluster direct, starting strong with Pikmin 4 there was more ports than new games announced. There were some surprises that I am in for. A new Samba game for one and a Ghost Trick port, but they aren’t really heavy hitters. Ghost Trick does slap though, absolutely play it. Had a couple DS remasters for the switch which means more might be on the way. They showed some DLC news for games I don’t mess with, Splatoon and Fire Emblem. New copaganda game about VR cat cops is certainly an aesthetic, I’m sure Deca Police will be a video game of all time. Showed some news on games we’ve been made aware, the bayo spinoff and Octopath 2, though I’m not super in on those either. The online virtual console is adding gameboy to gameboy advanced games which is dope, even though I think tying those to an online subscription is bad. I could actually be into a Disney metroidvania (Disney Illusion Island), but not for a full price, especially when it looks like I’ve played this game 10 other ways. Isn’t Don’t Nod those cats that made the Life is Strange games? Looks like Nintendo is starting the process of remastering DS games for the Switch which is pretty cool. I don’t know how much news I need on Advanced Wars reboot cause I’m gonna play it regardless, glad to get a date though. After Midnight Suns I’d play more cardbased RPGs so Baten Kaitos might be something I could dabble in. The real actual surprise is a new Layton game, which I thought we were never gonna get a new one. So at least we got that. At least Zelda Tears of the Kingdom didn’t get delayed again. Though Elder Ring kinda took me out of these new Zelda games. These directs lately have not been it. Covid must’ve really messed up Nintendos plans. Maybe I should care more about ports but I want new new.

In essence: ZZZZZZZzzzzzz
