Knock at the Cabin
I think I went into this movie with different expectations for the tone of the movie. I’m the type of freak that likes it when their media makes them feel stressed or anxious. I was sorta expecting to feel anxious the whole time. That was my mistake, I did enjoy the film without that. I went in with little knowledge of the film and that worked to it’s advantage. The film is enjoyable and interesting, even if it’s essentially the trolley problem at it’s core. Dave Bautista steals the show here, as he has been doing in most of his roles. But that shouldn’t downplay anyone else in this movie, the cast is all incredibly strong. They all have a chance to shine. Do be prepared for some insane closeups, you can really see all the wrinkles on Bautista’s head. Because of the extreme closeups and how they framed the shots the focus does often feel wonky, or it was at least a distraction for me. It’s something worth watching even if Shymalan isn’t your cup of tea.
In essence: Wanted a 10 Clover Field Lane type, got the trolley problem instead.
